Wanting Satisfies, Having Disappoints

When you want something you imagine its most perfect form, its most pleasing incarnation. You don't have it, but you are reassured by it. How wonderful it is to exist in a world with the object of your desire.

When you have something you must deal with its imperfections. You have it, but you aren't reassured by it. You know that the object of your desire doesn't exist and never does.

We need to believe in a better world than we have, we aspire towards better things, to have them, to create them. This is the basis of art and advertising; if what we wanted lived up to our imagination there would be neither.
